ST Engineering, Siemens secure contract for Estrella del Mar IV

The facility will produce 145MW at the shores of the Dominican Republic.

ST Engineering’s Marine business and Siemens Energy has been awarded a second contract by Transcontinental Capital Corporation Ltd. to deliver Estrella del Mar IV, a barge-mounted power plant off the shores of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to be completed in 2028.

Under the agreement, Siemens will supply a 145MW combined cycle power plant featuring two SGT-800 gas turbines, and one SST-600 steam turbine.

ST Engineering’s marine business will supply the engineering design, procurement, construction of the floating power plant, and its transportation and installation.

“By constructing the plant in Singapore and delivering it as a complete plug-and-play solution, the project reduces both cost and construction time compared to a land-based power facility,” Siemens Energy said.

The Estrella del Mar IV will be installed alongside the Estrella del Mar III, which was commissioned in 2022.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
