Hengdian’s Singapore base blends modern design with teamwork focus
It features a lot of natural light, warm wood tones, and a mix of textures.
Hengdian Group, one of China’s biggest diversified companies, has opened its headquarters in Singapore—a 2,300-square-foot office designed to foster movement and conversation over traditional corporate formality.
Harry Li, director of operations at Hengdian Group Singapore, said the office at the IOI Central Boulevard Towers was designed to feel bright, modern, and conducive to teamwork.
“It has a lot of natural light, warm wood tones, and a mix of textures that make the space feel calm yet energising,” he told Singapore Business Review.

The design takes cues from Hengdian’s Hangzhou office, known for its craftsmanship and attention to artistic detail. “We wanted to bring that same sense of care, but with a modern twist.”
Collaboration sits at the core of the office layout, which includes open work areas and informal zones to encourage interaction.
Li cited the pantry-adjacent area as his favorite feature. “It’s a bright, open meeting space where ideas flow easily and everyone feels comfortable speaking up,” he said in an emailed reply to questions.

For quieter work, the office includes private meeting rooms and sound-proof focus booths. The company also chose IOI Central Boulevard Towers for its sustainable and energy-efficient design, which features smart air-conditioning and ample natural lighting.

The Singapore hub will start with a lean team focusing on business development and partnerships.
“From the Singapore office, the team will coordinate with our subsidiaries including Tospo, Innuovo, DMEGC, Apeloa and Nanhua [across] financial services, clean energy, electronics, and pharmaceuticals,” Li said.
