Zoom opens heritage-inspired, sustainable Singapore office
It features Peranakan tiles and local fabrics inspired by the city-state’s heritage.
Zoom Communications has opened an office in Singapore that blends technology with heritage, sustainability, and hospitality in its design.
Izabella Lorenz, head of global real estate and workplace strategy at Zoom, said the workspace reflects both the company’s technological focus and local culture.
“We wove in identity through Peranakan tiles, locally inspired fabrics, and colour palettes drawn from Singapore’s culture and history,” she told Singapore Business Review.

Sustainability was a key consideration, she added, noting that finishes were selected to balance durability with environmental responsibility.
A focal point is a large tapestry created in partnership with Art for Impact, woven from recycled plastic bags collected from the ocean. The artwork, she said, embodies the intersection of art, community, and environmental responsibility.
The Singapore office is divided into two sections. The Engagement Hub serves as the main workspace, designed to adapt to different workstyles.

Lorenz said the office reflects the reality that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to hybrid work. “Our employees work in many different ways—from fully remote to mostly in-office and everything in between—and this office was designed to embrace the best of both worlds,” she said in an emailed reply to questions.

The second section, the Experience Hub, serves as a showroom for clients and guests. Whilst not open to public walk-ins, it regularly hosts customers, partners, and invited groups. Visitors are guided through real-world scenarios tailored to their needs and can test features such as Zoom AI Companion and push-to-talk functions.

Lorenz said the Experience Hub allows Zoom to demonstrate firsthand how its technology supports hybrid work as well as frontline workers who need communication tools whilst on the go.
