ISCA-IMDA programme targets AI upskilling in accountancy, finance

AIxAccountancy to cover ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini for finance workflows.

The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) have launched an artificial intelligence (AI) fluency programme for the accountancy sector.

The programme forms part of ISCA’s plan to upskill 60,000 accountancy and corporate finance professionals over three years.

It will be delivered in two phases. Phase 1 will cover AI foundations for common workplace tasks, including creating AI-enabled workflows for financial statement analysis.

Participants will be trained on AI concepts and tools for day-to-day work.

Phase 2 will focus on applying AI to role-specific workflows in accounting, finance, auditing, taxation, and related disciplines.

The curriculum includes hands-on use of tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and Gemini.

Upon completing both phases, ISCA will award participants a certificate of completion, a digital badge, and continuing professional development education hours.

The programme will be offered free to ISCA members who are Singapore citizens or permanent residents, including tertiary students.

The IMDA said over 20,000 individuals across the public and private sectors, including tertiary students, had expressed interest in the programme before its launch.

The Accountant-General’s Department plans to include AIxAccountancy in the learning and development programme for all 4,000 public sector finance and internal audit officers.

The initiative is part of the National AI Impact Programme, which aims to train 100,000 non-tech professionals over the next three years.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
