Dairy Farm dead set on speeding up its store expansion this year

Target markets are Indonesia, China.

According to DBS, management is accelerating its store expansion this year. Analysts believe Indonesia and China will be the key markets, since these markets have yet to mature and offer headroom for store expansion.

Here's more from DBS:

In China, we believe there is scope to open more 7-Eleven convenience stores given the vast potential. PT Hero has raised Rp 2,980bn (c.US$260m) through a rights issue in 2013 for repayment of borrowings and to fund store expansion.

We understand from management that it has plans to expand nationwide eventually. Most stores are currently located around Jakarta and central Java.

DFI’s strategy continues to be Asia-focused, and engaged in direct modern retail trade to the end customers. It will focus its growth in attractive markets and business segments while seeking to attain operating efficiencies for better profitability.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
