Jumbo Group net profit hit by 8.8% YoY rise in expenses

Net profit declined to $13.7m in FY2024.

Jumbo Group's net profit fell by 6.5% YoY to $13.7m in FY 2024 despite recording a record revenue of $190.4m.

The seafood restaurant group attributed the decline to higher operating expenses, which rose 8.8% YoY to $112.7m.

Higher employee benefits from increased headcount, salary adjustments, and bonuses drove the rise, alongside operating costs for cleaning, maintenance, delivery commissions, and marketing.

FY2024 also saw impairment losses for property, right-of-use assets, and goodwill due to underperforming outlets.

JUMBO’s board has recommended a final tax-exempt dividend of $0.005 per ordinary share, contingent on shareholder approval at the upcoming AGM.

If endorsed, FY2024 dividends will total $0.010 per share.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
