Outbound flight bookings rise 15% during Labour Day period

Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Sydney are among the fastest-growing picks for travellers.

Outbound flight bookings from Singapore grew 15% year-on-year (YoY) during the Labour Day holiday period, according to a Trip.com Group report.

Multi-city bookings increased 16%, indicating that more travellers are adding additional stops to their itineraries over the three-day break.

Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Seoul remained the most popular destinations for Singapore travellers.

Meanwhile, flight bookings for Shanghai, Guangzhou, Sydney, and Tokyo recorded the fastest growth, growing by over 30% YoY.

Other destinations, including Da Nang and Yangon, also entered the top 10 fastest-growing list.

Hotels accounted for almost 90% of accommodation bookings. Travellers booked trips nearly two months in advance on average.

Separately, China remained the largest source market for inbound travel to Singapore during the same period, followed by Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Singapore also ranked third amongst the top international destinations for Chinese travellers, behind Seoul and Bangkok.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
