Over half of S’poreans book LNY flights months ahead as long-haul spikes

Longer-haul trips and inbound demand also rise.

Over half (53%) of Lunar New Year travel bookings made by Singaporeans in 2026 were completed more than 60 days before departure, up three percentage points from 2025, according to Trip.com.

Data revealed a shift towards longer journeys, with mid- to long-haul flights accounting for 51% of bookings, up from 41% a year earlier.

Inbound travel demand to Singapore remained strong during the festive period, with China, Malaysia and Indonesia ranking as the top source markets for visitors. Thailand and Japan followed amongst the leading inbound markets.

In addition, the US, Myanmar, Japan, Laos, and Italy recorded the fastest growth in visitor numbers.

Universal Studios Singapore ranked as the most frequently booked attraction among inbound travellers, followed by Night Safari, Singapore DUCKtours, Jewel Changi Airport, and Skyline Luge Singapore.

Outbound travel also remained active, with Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Tokyo ranking as the most popular overseas destinations by bookings, followed by Penang and Taipei.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
