Here are 3 proofs of workplace gender inequality in SG

An HR expert weighed in on the deepening gender gap during the pandemic.

Payroll solutions provider ADP released their annual study called People at Work 2021: A Global Workforce View.

First, the study found 46% of women in Singapore have received a pay rise or bonus for taking on new roles and extra responsibilities during the pandemic, compared to 51% of men. Second, only 24% of women are highly confident of finding another job with comparable pay compared to 33% of men. Third, 48% of Singaporean women feel noticed and recognised for their contributions at work, compared to 55% of men.

Human Resources Vice president Yvonne Teo explained that narrowing the differences in employees' pay slips is just a small part of the solution to a pervasive problem.

"As an HR leader, I'm often asked what businesses can do about an issue that is so interlinked to broader society. There are so many fluid factors, such as social dynamics and workplace culture. It's important to remember that what doesn't get measured doesn't get managed."

Having real-time, accurate, accessible and transparent payroll data is critically important. It means organisations can create greater visibility of the issue and establish a benchmark to monitor progress," Teo added.

ADP Research Institute surveyed 7,627 employees in Australia, China, India, and Singapore.
