66% of Gen Zs plan job moves in 2026, report says

Recruiters report tougher hiring as AI reshapes screening.

About 66% of Gen Z professionals in Singapore plan to look for a new role in 2026, making them the most mobile cohort in the workforce, according to a LinkedIn report.

Nearly one in three professionals across generations are also exploring opportunities beyond their current industry, signalling broader career transitions rather than routine job changes.

Job hunting has become more difficult for 82% of professionals, with Gen Z feeling the pressure most acutely at 87.29%, compared with 80.69% of Millennials, 79.57% of Gen X and 84.13% of Boomers.

Recruiters face corresponding constraints. Around 74% said it has become harder to find qualified professionals over the past year, with 44% pointing to a lack of suitable applicants. The data highlights a hiring market under strain on both sides, as systems optimised for speed do not always surface candidates that match role requirements.

According to the report, Gen Z is also the most active user of AI in applications, with 45% using tools to draft responses, run mock interviews or create work samples, compared with 36% of Millennials, 32% of Gen X and 17% of Boomers.

However, 44% of Gen Z and 43% of Millennials cited “not knowing how to stand out amidst strong competition” as their top concern, even as roughly a quarter of professionals in each generation said they are upskilling in AI-related skills to stay competitive.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
