Flexible roles rise over 66% YoY in March

Security and research roles saw the sharpest rise of 24%.

Flexible work opportunities are on the rise in Singapore, with over 66% of job postings from March 2024 to March 2025 mentioning ‘work from home’ or ‘work remotely’ terms, Indeed reported.

Notably, roles in security and public safety, and scientific research rose by 24% and 16%, respectively. Other strong performers included logistic support (+10.9%) and data analytics (+10.8%).

However, certain sectors saw sharp declines in flexible work opportunities, including cleaning and sanitation (-43%), childcare (-27%), driving (-27%), and loading and stocking (-26%).

“Overall, the Singapore labour market remains undeniably tight, with an unemployment rate of just 1.9%. Consequently, skill shortages have remained quite common across Singapore, although the most severe shortages have certainly eased over the past year,” Callam Pickering, APAC senior economist at Indeed said.

“Geopolitical and economic uncertainty will likely impact Singapore’s growth prospects this year, which could weigh on job creation. Global growth is likely to be much lower than was expected even a couple of months ago,” he added.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
