Local job openings rise: report

Singapore’s hiring situation is seeing an upward trend amidst pandemic.

There has been a 36% surge in job openings whilst applications rose by only 7%, according to a report by employment website JobStreet.

There has been an upward trend in Singapore’s hiring situation, even amidst industries most severely hit by COVID-19.

“COVID-proof” jobs have also sustained strong demand in postings as of Q4 2020.

In spite of the candidates’ agility, they may still be unable to adapt to the rate of change, possibly due to lack of awareness, education and a widening skills gap, according to JobStreet.

To boost employability amongst locals, JobStreet will be hosting a virtual career fair from 1 – 11 March. It will provide jobseekers with opportunities to interact live with more than 40 employers as well as live job interviews and webinar livestreams.

Certified professional courses worth more than $7m will be given complimentary to SEEK Asia candidates at the career fair.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
