Only 5% of Singaporean bosses eye giving 3 months' worth of bonuses

Majority still looks into just 1 month.

JobStreet.com recently conducted a survey to get feedback from both employers and employees in Singapore on their views with regards to increments and bonus pay-outs for 2014.

The JobStreet.com survey showed that amidst the increasingly strong labour market in Singapore, most employers state that having a competitive remuneration package as the most effective tool for staff retention.

62% acknowledged that salary increments and bonuses are the most effective retention tool. From the survey, it was revealed that the average bonus is expected to be 1 month.

Some employees will be pleased to know that 14% of employers said that they will pay out 2 months and 5% said they will pay 3 months bonuses. The bonus figures exclude the annual wage supplement.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
