SMU Academy partners with Polytechnics, ITE to offer credit exemptions

Graduates can enroll for SMU’s industry and digital economy programmes.

Polytechnic post-diploma holders and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) graduates can now receive credit exemption in Singapore Management University (SMU) Academy Programmes.

This will be enabled through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) SMU’s training arm signed with five Polytechnics and the ITE.

In the MOU, the graduates with relevant learning and professional experiences can receive credit exemptions towards SMU Academy’s Industry Graduate Diploma (IGD) and Industry Practice Master of Digital Economy (IPMDE) programmes.

“It also establishes clear progression pathways for ITE diploma graduates to work towards these qualifications,” the SMU said.

Eligible polytechnic post-diploma graduates may receive up to six module credits, with an additional one to two credits for relevant work experience. ITE diploma graduates may have a direct progression pathway into the SMU graduate-level programme.

SMU Academy’s previous admission pathway required at least a polytechnic diploma holder to have 10 years of work experience.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
