Singapore, Google partner to enhance national cyber defenses

Government, tech firm programmes to combat cyber threats and promote AI use.

Google and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) have signed partnerships to boost national cyber defenses and prompt public adoption of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered security.

Google and CSA have renewed their public-private partnership that will facilitate their intelligence sharing on cyber threats, enable joint operations against malicious activities, and collaborate on AI-powered security solutions, the firms said.

The Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech Singapore) has adopted Google Cloud Cybershield, which addresses defense weaknesses like fragmented data, limited attacker insight, and talent gaps by providing AI and intel-driven cyber defense.

To support micro-small medium enterprises (MSMEs) and non-profits, Google.org is supporting The Asia Foundation to establish student-led cybersecurity clinics at Temasek Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic.

The clinics will include Cyber Essentials workshops for employees of MSMEs to help them understand phishing attacks and basic data backup strategies.

To help individuals recognise online fraud, Google is launching Be Scam Ready, an interactive game that trains users to spot the manipulation techniques commonly used by scammers, the tech firm announced.

Additionally, Google Play Protect, which was first launched in Singapore, has blocked 2.78 million unauthorised app installation attempts from web browsers, messaging apps, or file managers across 622,000 devices as of September 2025, Google said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
