Singapore ranks second in APAC for mobile malware and global IoT attacks

Mobile malware in the Asia Pacific increased by 77% YoY.

Singapore ranked as the second most targeted nation in Asia-Pacific for mobile malware attacks and the second globally for IoT attacks, according to Zscaler.

India topped the list of most mobile malware attacks in the region, whilst the Philippines, Australia, and Indonesia completed the top five.

Mobile malware in Asia-Pacific recorded a 77% YoY increase in spyware, with attackers targeting personal and financial data.

For IoT attacks worldwide, the United States ranked first with 81.3% of IoT attack traffic, followed by Singapore at 5.3%.

The most targeted sectors globally for mobile malware are technology (18%), education (18%), and manufacturing (14%).

Meanwhile, manufacturing faces the highest IoT malware attack volume, accounting for 36% of all IoT malware blocks.
