Richard MacDonald’s Magical Energies

Known for using only live models for his sensational baroque style figurative work, Richard MacDonald’s art sculptures capture not just the form, but the vitality and personality of the models. As the artist behind the creation of monumental sculptures of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 100th U.S. Open in 2000, Richard MacDonald is the first and only artist to have been given exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the famous Cirque du Soleil.

Drawing inspiration from the brilliant spectacle of the circus styles, Richard MacDonald encapsulates a performer’s beauty, athleticism and spirit in his creations. Starting 21 September, Richard’s collection of smaller sculptures is displayed in the Opera Gallery Singapore at ION Orchard. Furthermore, his collection of heroic sculptures is installed at the walkways of ION Orchard, as well as showcased on the lively streets of prominent landmarks along Orchard Road.

“The most important aspect of my work is capturing the soul and the movement of the human spirit,” said Richard MacDonald. “Through my art work, I hope to increase the appreciation and understanding of figurative sculpturing throughout Singapore and the rest of Asia.”

“With close to two decades worth of experience in the industry, Opera Gallery has consistently brought high quality art to art lovers and investors, and we hope to continue doing that with the new collection,” said Stephane Le Pelletier, Director, Asia Pacific, of Opera Gallery. “Richard MacDonald has consistently proved himself to be ahead of the times with his art of human sculpturing, where he has truly earned himself a status of being an unequivocal master of the art. Continuing our successful world-class exhibitions, we are pleased to showcase his installations alongside the Timeless Masterpieces exhibition.”

Opera Gallery’s Timeless Masterpieces and Richard Macdonald’s Magical Energies is now open to the public for viewing, starting 21 September till 21 October at Opera Gallery, in ION Orchard Singapore. Heroic pieces from Richard Macdonald’s collection are also featured along Orchard Road, outside prominent buildings including St Regis Singapore, Wisma Atria and ION Orchard Singapore.
