Resorts World Sentosa, National Arts Council launch sustainability arts fund

The fund will help local arts groups create works at the Singapore Oceanarium.

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) and the National Arts Council (NAC) have launched the Singapore Oceanarium by RWS Sustainability Arts Fund under NAC’s Sustain the Arts (stART) Fund.

Seeded with a $200,000 contribution from RWS, the fund will support local arts organisations in creating various immersive art forms at the Singapore Oceanarium.

“Through the Singapore Oceanarium by RWS Sustainability Arts Fund, we are creating a dynamic platform where artistic expression sparks deeper understanding of our oceans, cultivating both an appreciation for marine biodiversity and the creative arts,” said Lee Shi Ruh, CEO of RWS.

Following an open call in 2024, two local arts groups have been selected to create art forms that will engage guests whilst delivering marine conservation messages.

Mural art studio Mural Lingo will present "Between Wonder and Waste," a mural experience combining traditional paint work, sculptural installations, and motion sensor technological touches that react to guests as they draw nearer.

The art installation will feature a 22-metre-long wall art mural, incorporating debris collected during beach cleanups, including a cleanup organised by the Conservation and Science team from Singapore Oceanarium.

Moreover, contemporary dance company TRDOco will present ‘Guardians of the Sea.’ The dance performance will feature the beauty of marine life with the reality of ocean pollution in a three-part performance.

Guests can experience Mural Lingo's art from 23 July onwards and TRDOco’s performances from 31 July onwards.

Both can be experienced in the Open Ocean zone in the Singapore Oceanarium.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
