Manufacturing output rises 21% YoY in August, led by electronics

Electronics output rose 49.1% YoY.

Singapore’s manufacturing output rose by 21.0% YoY and 6.7% MoM in August, EDB Singapore revealed.

Excluding biomedical manufacturing, which recorded a 16.1% YoY contraction,  manufacturing output in August would have increased by 27.5% YoY and 11.0% MoM.

Only biomedical manufacturing reported a contraction in output.

The output of Electronics, Chemicals, Precision Engineering, Transport Engineering, and General Manufacturing all improved in August, expanding by 49.1% YoY, 11.1% YoY, 7.9% YoY, 3.9% YoY, and 2.5% YoY, respectively.
