29 most traded SGX stocks book double-digit returns

Companies in the maritime and offshore services sectors led the gains.

Singapore’s 100 most traded stocks have seen mixed returns with 29 players already recording double-digit total returns so far this year.

Data from the Singapore Exchange showed the 29 outperformers were keeping pace with the 10.6% total return of STI for the year ended 17 July.

Maritime and offshore services companies led the gains. The top five most traded stocks were Beng Kuang Marine, Mermaid Maritime, Yoma Strategic, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and Samudera Shipping.

“Bolstered by moderately higher oil prices…. and the anticipation of a gradual recovery in global trade, the sector has demonstrated resilience. It has also been a robust component of Singapore's manufacturing sector over recent years, further supported by long-term sustainability initiatives,” the SGX said.

Meanwhile, 21 of the 100 most active stocks suffered from double-digit declines during the same period.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
