EMA, ENEC to develop Singapore’s nuclear capabilities

They will look into emerging technologies and human resource development amongst others.

Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the city-state’s capabilities in nuclear energy.

Under the deal, the parties will focus on strengthening capabilities in nuclear science and technology, and identifying activities of mutual interest in areas such as the assessment of emerging nuclear technologies and human resource development. They will also conduct information sharing through workshops, technical exchanges, and/or staff attachments.

This agreement, signed by EMA Chief Executive Puah Kok Keong and ENEC Managing Director & CEO Mohamed Al Hammadi, aligns with Singapore's efforts to assess nuclear energy's feasibility in meeting future energy demands.

“The MoU is part of Singapore’s efforts to explore all options to decarbonise its power system to achieve our net zero emissions target by 2050. We look forward to working with ENEC to learn more about nuclear energy,” Puah said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
