Singapore is ASEAN's least corrupt country, ranks 5th globally

Myanmar is the most corrupt country in ASEAN, ranking 162nd globally.

Singapore is the least corrupt country in Southeast Asia, scoring 83 on Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) from 2019 to 2023, where a score of 0 indicates the most corrupt and 100 is the least corrupt, according to the National University of Singapore (NUS).

This score placed the city-state in 5th place globally in 2023, compared to Myanmar, which ranked 162nd with a score of 20.

Cambodia also ranked low globally at 158th place, followed by Lao PDR at 135th, Indonesia and the Philippines at 115th, and Thailand at 108th.

According to NUS, the nine ASEAN countries (excluding Brunei Darussalam) had an average CPI score of 38.6 in 2023, down from 41.9 in 2021 and below the Asia-Pacific average of 45.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
