Transition to zero and near-zero-emission fuels could create 700 jobs

This shift will also bring health and economic benefits.

The report revealed that the transition to zero and near-zero-emission fuels could create about 700 new job opportunities in the fuels’ production and supply chain by 2030, according to a study by The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Port of Los Angeles, and Port of Long Beach

The study also forecasted health improvements for local communities and economic benefits for participating countries.

Meanwhile, it estimated the projected annual energy demand of vessels on the corridor at approximately 60,000 terajoules (TJ), equivalent to around two months of Singapore’s national electricity generation.

In addition, the annual shipping demand on the corridor is expected to be around 850,000 tons of methanol and 160,000 tons of ammonia by 2030.

This estimated shipping demand displaces the equivalent GHG emissions from almost 320,000 cars annually.
