FairPrice rolls out SG’s first supplier AV route
The route links FPG’s distribution centre with Pokka’s Benoi warehouse.
FairPrice Group (FPG) has partnered with Pokka to roll out Singapore’s first autonomous vehicle (AV) route to transport goods between a retailer and supplier.
In a statement, FPG said the route is between its distribution centre and Pokka’s warehouse in Benoi. If successful, similar AV routes will be implemented with FPG’s other suppliers in Singapore.
“This pilot represents an important next step on our journey to embed innovation beyond our business, across our value chain to drive greater operational and sustainability outcomes for ourselves and our partners,” said Vipul Chawla, Group CEO, FairPrice Group.
Once the route is approved for fully remote operations by the Land Transport Authority, FPG will transition to using purely AVs for the transportation of goods from Pokka’s warehouse to FPG’s distribution centre.
FPG currently has seven AVs in its vehicle fleet, with plans to expand this to close to 30.
