LTA expands bus network under BCEP as ridership rises

Six new routes and two extensions set to launch by 2025.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will introduce new bus services and route enhancements under the Bus Contracting and Enhancement Programme (BCEP) to meet rising commuter demand.

The BCEP currently serves about 200,000 passengers daily.

Since its launch in July 2024, 14 new services have been added and 52 routes enhanced to increase access between housing estates and MRT stations, the LTA said.

By end-2025, LTA plans to roll out six new routes, five City Direct services, and two route extensions. The agency said the decisions were based on ridership data and commuter feedback showing higher demand in housing estates.

LTA is also studying where new bus lanes could ease congestion and said it will allocate resources based on ridership data and network efficiency to improve route performance.
