Ninja Van pledges timely payment to Vietnam unit staff after protests

Ninja Van held virtual meeting with affected employees on 10 September.

Singapore-based logistics provider Ninja Van aims to resolve the salary and social insurance payment delays faced by employees of its subsidiary, ECRM Nobita, in Vietnam within two weeks.

Employees of ECRM Nobita, a software firm, protested at their offices on 12 September, demanding payment of overdue salaries and social insurance contributions.

In a statement sent to Singapore Business Review, the employees said they have not received their full wages or social insurance contributions since July 2024.

In response to the publication's query, Ninja Van said it already held a virtual announcement with all ECRM Nobita employees across three cities in Vietnam on 10 September.

"During the announcement, we explained the situation and committed to holding in-person meetings with each employee to address any concerns and questions privately," Ninja Van told the publication.

"We also invited them to reach out to Ninja Van management or our on-site team for further discussion," the company added.

The employees, however, said the virtual meeting failed to resolve the issue.

Ninja Van, for its part, has vowed to honour its obligations and stand by the employees of ECRM Nobita as its parent company.

"The employees have worked hard and deserve to be paid on time and in full. We are also reviewing the overall situation with ECRM Nobita's management and will take the necessary actions to prevent this from happening again," the company told the publication.

Meanwhile, the company emphasised that ECRM Nobita’s situation is separate from Ninja Van’s operations.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
