Fundnel bags SBR National Business Award for Financial Technology

Fundnel aims to empower the private investment ecosystem.

Singapore-based collaborative private investment platform for accredited investors Fundnel was recognised for their initiative, "Cutting through the equity investment red tape for companies," at the Singapore Business Review National Business Awards 2017.

They won in the Financial Technology category, and Fundnel’s co-founder and CEO Kelvin Lee accepted the award on the company's behalf.

Traditional methods of raising equity investments are opaque, tedious, and typically involve many parties, according to Fundnel. In addition to that, the whole process of getting publicly listed could leave a company mired in a quicksand of time and effort. Fundnel’s goal is to reduce the hassle and duration required for companies to be connected with quality equity investors.

Fundnel has created an online investment platform for modern companies and investors that speeds up the entire fundraising process with data and technology. They constantly source for tangible, high-growth companies that are inherently relatable to investors, across technology, F&B, healthcare and consumer retails sectors. More importantly, their focus remains to reconnect investors with the very businesses around them, and foster an community of highly engaged businesses and investor-consumers.

The company is building momentum toward creating a “private stock exchange” that will be an ecosystem consisting of regulators, banks, analysts, unlisted companies and investors – all supported by modern technology. Fundnel foresees that by 2020, they will be the first port of call for private investments in everyday businesses for investors, and especially the upcoming generation.

The SBR National Business Awards was held on June 8, 2017 at the Conrad Centennial Singapore.

This year's nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Ng Jiak See, executive director and head of corporate finance advisory at Deloitte Singapore & Southeast Asia; ChooEngChuan, ASEAN markets leader and partner, international and corporate tax services at Ernst & Young Solutions LLP; Toh Kim Teck, assurance partner at Foo Kon Tan LLP; and Henry Tan, managing director at NEXIA TS.
