Varun Chandran was born and raised in a farming village in India but has been living in Singapore since 2008. He captained the university football team and was able to play football at national level in India. During college, he dropped out of school to find a suitable work to support his family but that didn’t stop him to keep on dreaming.
At 22, he learnt the English language and worked with global tech companies such as SAP, Oracle in India, US, and Singapore. Little did he know that the experiences he accumulated from joining these big tech companies would soon bring him better fortunes.
In 2012, Varun founded Corporate360 or C360, a Big Data software company offering SaaS based marketing data cloud software to help B2B marketers discover sales leads, ideal buyer profiles and competitive intelligence. The company which prides itself as Asia’s first company to offer Data-as-a-Service marketing cloud software for global markets helps B2B sales reps close deals faster, eliminate sales research, accelerate pipeline creation, beat competition and maintain CRM data accuracy.
The idea was generated from a problem he faced during his previous job. To perform better, Varun started developing data algorithms to find sales leads from online sources. He shared it with his boss and some of his team members. His former boss then encouraged him to start a company fueled by the idea. The company started with only one staff for 3 quarters and an initial investment of $10,000. Eventually, he reinvested the profits of $300,000 into the business. As of today, C360 has revenues near 2 million with its services being offered at flexible, low cost subscription plans coupled with global coverage across North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Product commercialization through social impact
From a tech company founder wherein data mining algorithms collect massive amount of business data from millions of web sources, Varun still believes that there are some of the last mile areas where human touch is necessary to maintain data accuracy regardless of any automation efforts.
As the company would also want to reach and help out others, C360 launched a crowd-sourced data software called SmartWorker last year. Through the software, Varun explained that C360 hires unemployed youth and women from rural and poor communities in Asia. The company trains them to perform simple digital data tasks and connect them to life-changing work income.
“Through SmartWorker, C360 promote Impact Sourcing that benefits disadvantaged people in areas of severely low employment. Till date, they have distributed over $109,000 in wages and impacted over 1220 workers and dependents from remote areas from India, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal & Singapore,” said Varun.
Currently, C360 is raising Series A to expand its sales and marketing teams in international markets such as US & Europe. The company is also launching newer products for several industries and their mobile app this year.
