Will the legal dispute between Baker Tech and Sembcorp finally come to an end?

The High Court has given Sembcorp 21 days to file its written replies to Baker Tech, PPL Holdings, and E-Interface.

In a recent announcement, the Board of Directors of Baker Technology Limited refered to the Suit between Sembcorp Marine Ltd and PPL Holdings Pte Ltd and E-Interface Holdings Limited, in which PPL Shipyard Pte Ltd is also a party as second defendant to the counterclaim.

The Company had previously announced that due to the legal dispute, the gain from the disposal of PPLH to QD Asia Pacific Ltd. in October 2010 had been deferred pending the outcome of the Suit. The Company announced the current status of the Suit, which is as follows:

1. The evidential hearing ended on 5 October 2011, after 19 hearing days.

2. Parties were directed to file written submissions, in sequence. SCM and PPL Shipyard have filed their written submissions and PPLH and E-Interface will file their written response on 27 January 2012. SCM has 21 days to file its written reply submissions.

3. The High Court may direct oral submissions as well and will render a decision after considering all the submissions.

The Company will announce the Court’s decision when rendered
