Exclusive: Grounding of Tiger Airways could extend up to 40 days

The decision of Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to extend the grounding of Tiger Airways from flying to Australia will not come as early as today. But if ever the Australian regulators decided to apply extension, the ban could last for over a month, said CASA corporate communications manager Peter Gibson.

“We've been working all day long to look at all safety issues  concerning Tiger Airways but we have not arrived on whether or not to extend the grounding. The process will take time and CASA will still have to discuss extension of grounding in the next few days,”  Mr. Gibson told Singapore Business Review.

"If ever CASA decided to apply extension, it could be that grounding lasts for upto 40 more days," he added noting that until now chances of Tiger Airways to fly again in Australia remain uncertain.

Suspension of Tiger Airways runs until July 9, 2011.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
