JJ-LAPP named Team of the Year - Industrial Engineering at SBR Management Excellence Awards

The company bagged the accolade for its exemplified resilience and teamwork.

JJ-LAPP was honoured at the SBR Management Excellence Awards, which recognised the company’s 20 years of success through collaboration, strategic planning, and commitment to innovation.

JJ-LAPP boasts its successful recovery and growth following a devastating fire that destroyed its cable factory in Tangerang, Indonesia, on 30 December 2022. Despite the extensive damage to both the facility and inventory, the team at JJ-LAPP demonstrated extraordinary resilience, turning adversity into an opportunity for unity, innovation, and sustainable progress.

Employees rallied together and maintained full employment throughout the crisis. In the months following the incident, the team operated from a temporary site with support from its sister company, maintaining continuity of operations and reinforcing JJ-LAPP's commitment to its workforce and customers.

JJ-LAPP’s recovery strategy was focussed on rebuilding stronger and safer operations whilst maintaining open communication with customers to sustain their trust. The company introduced several strategic measures to safeguard against future risks, such as innovative safety improvements, which include a 6-metre safety buffer zone from neighbouring sites, the installation of a watershed beneath the factory, and enhanced fire safety measures to mitigate risk; and sustainability initiatives such as the installation of solar panels.

JJ-LAPP’s factory officially resumed operations on 5 June 2023, just five months after the severe fire. The reopening was carefully planned in phases to ensure that production quality and efficiency were maintained during the recovery process. Aside from rebuilding the factory, the company secured a significant strategic partnership with a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) and smart energy solutions—a collaboration that underscores JJ-LAPP’s industry leadership and its commitment to expanding its role in the renewable energy sector.

Furthermore, JJ-LAPP's focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive work culture was recognised in 2023, as both its Singapore and Indonesia teams were awarded Great Place to Work certification.

As the company moves forward, it is more determined to maintain its leadership in the cable, connectivity and renewable energy solutions industry and deliver exceptional value to its customers and partners.

The SBR Management Excellence Awards recognises the most exceptional business leaders, innovators, teams, and initiatives that drive growth and make a positive impact on both the business operations and its workforce in Singapore.

The awards programme, now in its 10th year, acknowledges positive change and honours those who have successfully propelled their companies to new heights of success whilst fostering a nurturing environment that positively influences their employees.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
