Chart of the Day: Retail space pipeline until 2022 to hit 602,000 sqft

Supply per year falls far behind the past three-year average of 1 million sqft.

This chart from EDMUND TIE reveals that the supply of retail development in the pipeline from Q4 2019 to 2022 is projected to reach 602,000 sqft net lettable area (NLA).

The supply for each year in 2020 to 2021 is estimated at about 100,000 to 200,000 sqft, far below the past three-year average of 1 million sqft, as well as the past five-year average of 1.2 million sqft.

According to data from Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the total supply of retail spaces ended at 333,000 sqm GFA in Q4.
