Chart of the Day: Corporations led SGD-denominated bond issuance in 2017

Property corporations and financial institutions also made significant contributions to the issuance volumes.

This chart from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) shows that corporate issuers made up the most (24%) of the issuance volumes of the SGD denominated market in 2017. This has been the consistent trend for the past years.

Following its lead are property corporations which made up 23.6% of the issuance volumes. Financial institutions brought 19.5% of issuance volumes in the SGD market, which is lower than the 27.7% in 2016.

Also in the list of issuers are special purpose vehicles (18.3%), government agencies and statutory boards (12.1%) and supranational (2.5%) 

According to MAS, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) was the largest issuer with issuances hitting $3.32b 2017. Also included in the list is Manulife Corporation which issued a $500m 12-year green bond.
