Singapore signs MoU with UK cybersecurity standard alignment for consumer IoT devices

Agreement harmonises smart device labelling standards between the two countries.

The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United Kingdom’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to align cybersecurity standards for consumer Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, according to a government announcement on 22 October 2025.

Starting 1 January 2026, smart devices carrying Singapore’s Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme will be recognised under the UK’s Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) Act. Conversely, devices certified under the UK framework can apply for Singapore’s Level 1 label through a simplified process.

The arrangement covers connected products such as smart home assistants, alarm systems, and IoT hubs. The UK is the fourth country to establish a mutual recognition framework with Singapore, following Germany, South Korea, and Finland.

As of October 2025, more than 800 products have been awarded the label.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
