Total business receipts climbed 3.6% in Q1

Strong revenue growth in the information and communications services industry buoyed Q1 gains.

Singapore’s services industries opened the year on strong financial footing as overall business receipts (excluding wholesale & retail trade and accommodation & food services) grew by 3.6% YoY in Q1, led by gains from the information & communications services. However, growth moderated from 4.1% in Q4 2018.

Business receipts of information & communications services industry grew 7.2%, thanks to gains from firms engaged in computer programming & consultancy services and information service activities, such as web hosting and web portal services.

The financial & insurance services and transport & storage services industries also reported increases in revenue of 7% and 3.9%, respectively.

Business receipts of the transport & storage services industry fell 5.6%, attributed to the water transport segment, which received lower demand for their services.

On the other hand, revenue from the recreation & personal services industry climbed 7.3% QoQ whilst turnover from the education services industry grew 3.7%.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
