To highlight its golden jubilee, Gordon Grill will be offering its 50th Anniversary Weekend Roast Lunch Menu to its diners starting 02 March - 21 July. This special course will highlight the restaurant's signature dishes including jumbo shrimp cocktail with traditional condiments, tartar of black angus beef with melba toast, glorious meat wagon, which will showcase on a rotating basis, and a choice cut of meat which will be carved tableside by the service staff.

Gordon Grill will also be rewarding its guests with a slew of prizes which include a 2-night stay at Goodwood Park Hotel's luxurious Deluxe Poolside Suite with $100 dining credit a spa massage.

Singapore Business Review has interviewed Justina Loh, Marketing Communications Manager of Gordon Grill, to know more about the restaurant's anniversary special.

How has Gordon Grill evolved after 50 years of operations in Singapore?
Gordon Grill has stood the test of time with a classic menu consisting key signature dishes which have been refined and re-interpreted over the years with a modern stance.

The meat wagon that was introduced in the 60s has evolved to become the meat trolley of today, where different cuts of beef are presented and service staff will slice and weigh each piece before it is sent to the kitchen for cooking. The restaurant has also kept with the times by introducing promotions focused on popular seasonal produce such as white asparagus and white Alba truffles. In the 80s and 90s, the restaurant used to hold a much sought-after game meats promotion which has been discontinued as game meats has since lost its appeal.

In the early days, for various promotions, Gordon Grill hosted mainly UK guest chefs. In recent years, several Michelin-starred chefs from various parts of Europe have graced our establishment and our chefs have been greatly inspired and influenced by their cooking techniques and their sensitivity of selecting and combining ingredients used in a dish.

The service style at Gordon Grill has remained largely the same; non-obtrusive, gentlemanly and butler-like.

What can Singaporeans expect from Gordon Grill in its 50th year?
Gordon Grill will be offering a Weekend Roast lunch promotion from 2 March to 28 July where guests will get to savour beloved classic dishes that have graced the menus of Gordon Grill for half a century. (Please refer to the press release attached for details on the promotion)

We will also be holding a birthday lunch and dinner on 30 July and Executive Chef Gan Swee Lai will be presenting a menu consisting contemporary renditions of Gordon Grill’s classic dishes.

What do you hope to achieve in the next 5 years?
We hope to continually grow our current customer base and attract more young and discerning gourmands to Gordon Grill. We will also strive to ensure that the menu at Gordon Grill remains relevant by sending our chefs abroad to interact and learn from international talents.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
