F&B sales drop 5.6% YoY in January

The lower F&B sales were partly due to CNY being celebrated in February.

Food and beverage (F&B) sales declined by 5.6% YoY in January. Month-on-month, however, sales improved by 0.3%.

Sales value clocked in at $942m. Of the total sales value, 23.1% was from online sales.

According to the Department of Statistics Singapore (Singstat), half of the F&B services industries recorded year-on-year increases in sales in January, with Food Caterers posting an 8.6% YoY growth and Cafes, Food Courts & Other Eating Places recording a 4.9YoY uptick.

Meanwhile, Restaurants and Fast Food Outlets both recorded a decline in sales, falling 16% YoY and 10.2% YoY, respectively.
