SPCA celebrates World Animal Day 2012

It will be celebrated together with its 65th anniversary on 30 September at East Coast Park from 10.30am - 6pm.

In a release, World Animal Day 2012's theme is an extension of the last - "Keep the Love, End the Neglect". The message is clear. Love will prevail; neglect must end. We want to drive home the message that neglect is indeed abuse.

Anyone can bring their pets, picnic mats and join the SPCA in its stand of kindness to animals and soak in the festivities with them as they celebrate World Animal Day 2012 and their 65th anniversary.

WORLD ANIMAL DAY CARNIVAL

"KEEP THE LOVE, END THE NEGLECT" PHOTO EXHIBITION
We all know what love is, but how many of us actually understand how to love an animal as unconditionally as they love us?

This themed photo exhibition aims to drive home the message and give pictorial evidences and examples of the vast number of ways a pet owner can end up neglecting his or her pet, sometimes unknowingly.

BUSTLING BOOTHS
Animal welfare groups and agencies like ACRES, Action For Singapore Dogs, Cat Welfare Society, House Rabbit Society of Singapore, Animal Lovers' League , Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority and Singapore Kennel Club have been invited to set up booths.

You will find yourself in the midst of a whirlpool of knowledge, so satisfy your learning appetite with information on the care of your pets from the animal welfare groups!

MERCHANDISE
Select from our wide array of bookmarks, pens, notepads, t-shirts, stickers and more, all for a small token amount. Endorse your support by using SPCA products and proudly display those spiffy car decals.

Arm yourself with the 2013 SPCA calendar which will make its debut appearance on World Animal Day and a brand new t-shirt that resonates with our theme of "Keep the Love, End the Neglect". As the saying goes, retail therapy heals all weary hearts.

PET CARE ADVICE ON-THE-GO

Many of you will have questions about caring for your pets and we know how the pet care advice corner might be lost in the whirl of all the exciting activities. This year, we will have roving information officers who will answer your questions on-the-go. Keep a look-out for our friendly information officers.

If you would like to pick up some brochures or pet care leaflets, do still visit the pet care advice corner and you will be equipped with a mantra the next time your pet does something that puzzles you.

EXCITING FRINGE ACTIVITIES
Other than the stage activities such as dance and song performances, obedience training demonstrations, cake-cutting ceremony, and more all lined up for you, we also have other fringe activities that you will definitely enjoy.

Children will find thrill and excitement at the children's corner where there will be fun-filled activities such as balloon sculpturing and face and hand painting and more.

CAKE-CUTTING CEREMONY
Raise your glasses to a toast and let us all celebrate the day of the animals who love us so unconditionally and pledge our unconditional love to them as well!

What is a birthday without a cake? The cake-cutting ceremony will be one of the highlights of the day! Come and honour our past adopters and their pets as we share the celebratory moment with them. Our animal guests will each get a piece of cake and it will surely be such a sight to watch them devour the little sweet cakes! The cakes are kindly sponsored by Doggiestyle Cafe.

PLEDGE YOUR LOVE

In this day and age where technology has advanced so much and we so often hide behind a masked persona of our virtual profiles, we sometimes forget the simple joys in life.

Pledge your love for the animals and promise to end the neglect at our Pledge Booth. Leave a pawprint of your pledge on the pledge board ( sponsored by Hill's Science Diet) and let us unite through our love for the animals! The joy of pledging your love can leave you feeling light and on a high.
