IMDA rolls out 800 AI jobs and training roles with partners

This initiative is being undertaken in partnership with AI Singapore and more than 25 companies.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has announced the rollout of 800 jobs and training opportunities for local AI Practitioners, as part of ongoing efforts to develop Singapore’s AI talent pipeline under the National AI Strategy 2.0.

This initiative is being undertaken in partnership with AI Singapore (AISG) and more than 25 companies, including AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, Singtel, and Grab.

Of the 800 opportunities, 400 are now open for application under the TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) programme, which aims to upskill individuals and place them into AI and tech-related roles.

The remaining 400 will be made available through two new training programmes launched jointly by IMDA and AISG: the AI Apprenticeship Programme (Industry) [AIAP(I)] and the Pinnacle AI Industry Programme [PAIP].

The AIAP(I) is a six-month industry-focused training course that will train 300 locals over two years in areas such as computer vision, natural language processing, and AI governance.

The programme builds on AISG’s previous nine-month AIAP and will include hands-on training with real-world projects provided by participating companies.

The PAIP, set to launch in the second half of 2025, targets companies developing or fine-tuning large-scale AI models.

It will train 100 existing AI Practitioners over three years to become expert model builders. Trainees will work full-time whilst undergoing training, embedded within AISG’s SEA-LION team, and will gain experience across the lifecycle of large language model development.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
