More Singapore employees turn to AI for work advice over managers

Randstad’s 2026 survey shows more employees are using AI for career guidance despite strong trust in managers.

Despite high levels of trust in managers, 63% of Singapore employees reported using AI for work-related advice instead of consulting their managers, a trend strongest amongst Gen Z (68%) and weakest amongst Baby Boomers (51%).

According to the The Randstad Workmonitor 2026 survey, managers remain a key source of guidance, with 69% of employees looking to them for support amid economic uncertainty.

Baby Boomers at 80% and Gen X at 70% were the most likely to seek advice from managers, compared with 69% of Millennials and 63% of Gen Z.

The survey also found that 74% of employees reported having a strong relationship with their direct manager, up from 69% in 2025.

About 70% said they felt more connected to their manager than to the company, and 72% trusted their manager regarding career progression.

Across generations, strong manager relationships were reported by 74% of Gen Z and Millennials, 73% of Gen X, and 76% of Baby Boomers.

Collaboration remains a driver of productivity, with 83% of respondents saying they are more productive when considering different perspectives.

The survey also found that cross-generational collaboration is significant with 79% of employees relying on colleagues from different generations to broaden viewpoints, with 81% of Gen X and 78% of Gen Z, Millennials, and Baby Boomers reporting this reliance.
