Singapore workers spend more time in office than at home, survey finds
Workers want slightly more office time.
Singapore remains one of the most office-led workplace markets in Gensler’s 2026 Global Workplace Survey, with employees spending 62% of their typical workweek in the office and 16% at home.
The survey also found that workers in Singapore say they ideally need to spend 67% of their time in the office to maximise productivity.
The report showed that work patterns in Singapore are becoming more solitary. Time spent working alone rose to 48% in 2026 from 38% in 2025, whilst time spent working with others in person fell to 23% from 28%, and virtual collaboration eased to 12% from 14%.
Workers in Singapore continue to place a high value on the office for practical and performance-related reasons.
The top reasons for coming in are access to technology, focus on work, professional development and coaching, access to senior leaders, and leadership visibility.
Singapore also remains heavily tilted towards assigned seating, with 86% of respondents in assigned desks and 14% in unassigned seating.
The report said workplace effectiveness in Singapore improved from last year across key work modes.
Looking ahead, Singapore workers said the most desired workplace features are physical and mental wellness amenities, digital walls and AR/VR or smart tools, training and coaching spaces, quiet reflective areas, and outdoor spaces or nature views.
