IT startup Horizon Quantum Computing ups seed round to $4.5m

The fresh funding will be used to launch its quantum software development tools.

Horizon Quantum Computing, a Singapore-based company developing programming tools for quantum computers, has increased its seed financing to $4.5m (US$3.23m) in a seed-plus round led by Sequoia Capital India, a press release revealed.

It was also participated by previous investors SGInnovate, Abies Ventures, DCVC, Qubit Protocol, Summer Capital and Posa CV.

The additional funding will be used to accelerate the launch of its quantum software development tools, to further engage with customers and early adopters and to continue strengthening its team.

Horizon Quantum Computing aims to bridge the gap between quantum computers and conventional software development.

“Quantum computing represents a fundamentally new model of computation, holding great promise as a new approach to tackling hard computational problems. As hardware development continues to advance, learning to harness the power of quantum processors for business applications will become the main barrier to adoption,” said Dr. Joe Fitzsimons, CEO of Horizon Quantum Computing.
