Keppel Infrastructure Trust to buy 50% stake in Keppel Marina East Desalination

As the sponsor, this will entitle Keppel Infrastructure Trust to 100% economic benefit from MEW.

Keppel Infrastructure Holdings and Keppel Infrastructure Fund Management will purchase a 50% stake in Marina East Water (MEW), which owns the $323m Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant (KMEDP).

As the sponsor, this will entitle Keppel Infrastructure Trust (KIT) to 100% economic benefit from MEW after receiving in-principle approval from PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency.

Upon completion by the first quarter of 2025, operations and maintenance of KMEDP will be continued by Keppel’s Infrastructure Division until the end of the plant’s concession period in 2045.

Keppel Infrastructure Fund Management, as trustee-manager of KIT, will fund the investment with internal sources and existing debt facilities of KIT.

KIT’s assets under management will grow from $8.7b as at 30 September 2024 to $9b upon acquisition.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
