Singapore launches first fractional art ownership platform

Investments start at $1,000.

With the launch of Singapore’s first fractional art ownership platform, We Are Art Collectors (WAAC), individuals can invest in art by renowned Singaporean artists, starting from $1,000.

Established by Low Sok Leng, founder of Artualize art gallery, WAAC enables multiple individuals to purchase fractional shares of high-value artwork using an innovative investment model.

“Each lot is priced affordably, and the artworks are curated by experts,” Low said. “This makes art investment much more accessible.”

The fractional art ownership model divides the value of an artwork into smaller, tradable lots, which investors can buy and sell.

In addition, WAAC will offer artworks by second-generation Singapore artists. The initial launch features oil paintings by Low Hai Hong and Koeh Sia Yong.

Six artworks are available for fractional ownership in the initial launch. The artworks are displayed at 02-11 High Street Centre, 1 North Bridge Road, from 10 January, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for viewing and subscription.

Globally, art purchases by millennials and Gen Z clients increased by 147% last year.

According to the Knight Frank Luxury Investment Index, art was the best-performing luxury asset class globally in 2023, achieving an 11% price increase, the only double-digit growth among the tracked luxury assets.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
