CCCS launches new guide on clear, accurate marketing
The guide sets out five principles for making product claims.
The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) has released a new guide to help businesses make accurate and evidence-based claims about their products.
The guide was developed following concerns raised over potential greenwashing and recent enforcement actions CCCS took against businesses found to have made misleading claims.
The document outlines five principles businesses should follow when promoting their products: claims must be truthful, clear, relevant, include key information, and be backed by evidence.
The guide also includes case studies to help businesses apply these principles in specific contexts.
In developing the guide, CCCS sought views from industry suppliers and business associations.
Consumers who encounter false or misleading claims by businesses can approach the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) for assistance.
