What makes Singapore’s 5G SA rollout a global benchmark?

Singtel leads with standalone download speeds reaching around 400 Mbps.

Singaporeans are now experiencing faster average 5G download speeds and a better 5G Games Experience on 5G Standalone (SA) network, thanks to the nationwide rollout, according to Opensignal Limited.

Singapore has become the first country globally to launch nationwide 5G SA network slicing for enterprises.

According to Opensignal’s findings, as of mid‑June, three of its four mobile operators—Singtel, M1, and StarHub—are now offering commercial 5G SA services.

Singtel leads with SA download speeds reaching around 400 Mbps, topping all operators in the market.

Both Singtel and StarHub deliver reliable performance, with Singtel also achieving the lowest UDP latency and strongest gaming experience on SA networks.

The 3.5 GHz band forms the backbone of SA deployments across all operators, supplemented by 2.1 GHz spectrum from M1 and StarHub.

Singtel is the only provider using the 700 MHz band for its SA services, targeting improved coverage in dense indoor and underground environments.

Low‑band 700 MHz enables broader coverage with fewer base stations, providing enhanced in‑building reception—an attractive proposition for enterprise sectors such as security and manufacturing.

Singapore’s deployment has been facilitated by early regulatory support since 2019 and strategic spectrum allocation.

The city‑state also extended SA coverage to its maritime zones in August 2022, reinforcing its status as a regional maritime communications hub

With near‑complete island‑wide 5G coverage, operators are now rolling out 5G‑Advanced and enhanced services.

Singtel’s 5G+ features include advanced network slicing, whilst M1 has introduced commercial 5G RedCap solutions for enterprises prioritising lower latency and improved energy efficiency.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
