LTA awards $735m in contracts for Downtown Line 2 extension

Woh Hup and Samwoh-CCCC JV win deals for new bridges and interchange stations

The Land Transport Authority has awarded two civil contracts for the Downtown Line 2 extension with a combined value of about $735m.

The first contract, worth around $285m, was awarded to Woh Hup Engineering Pte Ltd, a Singapore-registered construction company specialising in infrastructure and building projects.

The contract includes constructing a vehicular bridge to extend Choa Chu Kang North 7 and a pedestrian link-bridge over Pang Sua Canal to enhance connectivity between Yew Tee, DE1 station, and the Rail Corridor.

The second deal, valued at approximately $450m, was awarded to a joint venture between Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (Singapore Branch).

It covers the construction of an underground DE2 station on the DTL and a connected aboveground NS6 station between the Yew Tee and Kranji stations on the North-South Line.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
