CorpPass to replace SingPass and EASY as firms' corporate digital identity

Government seeks speedy digital services for businesses.

Businesses in Singapore can now expect greater convenience in dealing with government agencies as the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) streamlined transactions through a single corporate digital identity.

IDA declared it is set to jump-start the Singapore Corporate Access (CorpPass) on 15 September 2016 in lieu of the existing multiple digital identities such as SingPass and EASY.

With CorpPass, business will no longer need to handle multiple login IDs plus the system allows them greater control especially in managing employees’ access to government digital services.

“The government received feedback from the business community that SingPass should only be used for personal transactions, not corporate transactions, due to privacy concerns. For example, employees who go on leave tend to share their personal SingPass ID and passwords with colleagues to help perform business transactions like filing corporate tax, or applying for permits and licences. Having separate login IDs for corporate and personal matters will therefore better protect information of both businesses and employees,” IDA explained.

Owned by the Ministry of Finance and managed by IDA, CorpPass will be progressively rolled out from September 2016 to December 2017 with more government digital services being added in each phase. Phase one includes services from the Intellectual Property of Singapore, Ministry of Trade and Industry, National Environment Agency, and Singapore Customs.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
