How did Tiger rack up $74 million of losses in Australia?

It is a stunning figure only revealed yesterday, and brings in to question the strategy and even viability of its operations downunder.

The airline lost $6.8 million in 2011 and has lost every year since starting in 2007. There is plenty of blame to go around, from higher operating costs to a more competitive environment.

And it hasn’t been easy down under. The airline was recently rapped over the knucks by the Aussie regulator and given a notice to show cause why it should be allowed to continue to fly.
