CapitaLand Investment Limited (CLI) has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO) and chief investment officer (CIO) for its CLI Australia division.

Angelo Scasserra will be CEO of CLI and Rahul Bharara will be CIO. Both are expected to join the company in H1 2025.

They will be responsible for boosting CLI Australia’s business and will work closely with managing director Paul Toussaint to manage CLI’s more than A$9b in assets under management (AUM)  in Australia.

Scasserra has over 25 years of experience in real estate funds management, corporate finance, and law.

Prior to his appointment, he was head of the real estate private capital division at Barrenjoey Capital Partners. He also spent almost 20 years in Credit Suisse in Australia and Singapore where he also held senior positions.

Prior to his appointment, he was a partner for the real estate private capital division at Barrenjoey Capital Partners. Bharara was also managing director and head of real estate coverage at Credit Suisse Australia, and CIO at Gurner Group.

CLI currently manages 34 logistics properties, business parks, and four Grade A office buildings in the country. It also has over 13,500 lodging units across about 150 properties under its wholly owned lodging business unit, The Ascott Limited.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
